The Jews didn’t have faith that Jesus was the Christ even though they saw Jesus’ miracles with their own eyes. They suffered a fate I don’t want to imagine. Blessed are those who believe without seeing.
Faith Jesus is the Christ
Jesus answered them, “I told you and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify to me.John 10:25
In today’s reading we see Jesus having a conversation with the Jews. The Jews demand to know if Jesus is the Christ. However, Jesus responds telling them that they should have belief, because of the works he has done.
The Jews had the benefit of seeing the miracles that Jesus performed. They had the privilege of speaking with Jesus and bearing witness to His splendor. Yet, they still did not believe. They lacked faith.
How often do you hear unbelievers say, “Why doesn’t God just come down and tell me He’s real?” Or, “Why isn’t there better evidence for belief?”
We know through scripture, even when God came down and told people directly He was real, there was still widespread unbelief and doubt.
We do not have faith in Jesus because we see, but we believe because we see the truth. We see God’s truth in His word and in His deeds. Blessed are those who didn’t see, but believed anyway.
Each one of us is called to have faith. We need to believe that Jesus is the Christ. Even without seeing His miracles with our own eyes. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have any evidence.
God’s word the Bible, is full of reasons to have faith in Christ. God’s presence can be felt. We can see the benefits of prayer. Because of these reasons, we don’t see physically, but we can still have faith.
Have faith and believe that Jesus is the Christ. Your reward is eternal life.
